Last evening, members of Imago Dei enjoyed the inaugural production of Sugar Land Opera, presented by Imperial Performing Arts of Sugar Land, Fort Bend County’s first and only resident performing arts organization.

The evening included the US premier of Howard Blake’s

The Station
and
The Impressario
by Mozart. Tickets are still available for the matinee on Sunday, March 15, at Briscoe Manor in Richmond.

The voice talent was truly superb. The actors well directed could also think on their feet, dealing with some unruly props, they wove it into the comic sense of the opera itself. While both operas were light and comic, the Mozart piece was carried by a full orchestra. Blake’s was scored for a piano quintet, accommodating a larger cast & set.
