If walls could talk these walls would speak volumes. When these Kingwood, TX home owners set out to build their custom home they wanted their interior environment to reflect their beliefs, personality, and imagination; and when it came time to address the walls and ceilings they chose Imago Dei to do just that.

The designs for this home incorporate scripture verses that have been translated into several different languages. Set beautifully into ornamental flourishes and graphics, the text offers continuous praise to God and reminds readers of His presence. Upon entering the home, guests are greeted by a glorious foyer dome, which has been finished in a dark bronze to light golden, metallic gradient. This lustrous dome is beautifully embellished with a series of ornate manuscripts in french, spanish, english, greek and calligraphic hebrew. Each script reads: “Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.” Guiding from the foyer into the parlor is an alluring arch that is stenciled with elegant scrolling text: “Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise!”.

The powder room speaks beauty without words. This little space makes a big statement with an elegant allover damask pattern sumptuously embossed on the walls and ceiling in venetian plaster. This striking stenciled texture is glazed with a rich metallic copper providing a luxurious warmth to the space.

The master suite is a light and airy retreat. The bedroom walls feature faint wisps of a tone-on-tone damask stencil that elegantly fades in and out over an old world plaster texture.

Entering through to the bath is a charming coffered vestibule, embellished with a custom medallion design that was inspired by the already existing Spanish tiles located in another area of the house. Passing through the vestibule is a stunning barrel vault that glistens in the reflective sunlight light from large surrounding windows. This spectacular treatment was created using a lustrous champagne metallic finish with blue and verdigris undertones.

Many other areas of the home received an array of subtle and elegant decorative treatments incorporating delicate stenciling, intricate finishes, and lustrous metallic glazes; However, covered with an intricate old world map, the master study ceiling boldly and intriguingly breaks-way from these subtle decorative elements with a sense of adventure, virility, and antiquity. This striking feature was printed on canvas by Imago Dei’s very own state-of-the-art giclèe printer. Using archival, UV resistant inks to print, and archival glue to install each section around the ceiling beams, this mural will remain vivid for generations to come.

Upstairs, In a child’s room a whimsical faux stone castle wall conceals a hidden door to a play space. Imago Dei artists sculpted this magical treatment using a special concrete product that allows for deep carving and easy staining to create realistic dimensionality and color.

Once again, Imago Dei has transformed ordinary spaces into a client’s imaginative retreat.
